Client Business Need/ Problem:

Customer needed a comprehensive communications solution to address the technology requirements at their new Fourchon base. Key criteria in development of the solution included integrated voice & data, physical security, and business continuity.

GDS Solution:

 GDS developed a turnkey solution that included structured cabling, voice over IP, wired and wireless data infrastructure, video surveillance, and IP based dialtone. GDS designed the specifications of this solution to facilitate a real-time failover to non-terrestrial satellite communications for all of these technologies in the event of a major hurricane or business impacting event.

Result:

Following Hurricane Gustav, this client maintained one of the only fully functioning facilities in the Port of Fourchon. Despite the fact that the local telephone company infrastructure was devastated, the client continued to have seemless voice and data communications with their corporate offices and clients allowing them to conduct business as usual when their services were most valuable to their customers.
