Global Data Systems has evolved over the years to meet the needs of clients and stay a step ahead of the ever changing technology industry. Though the company started as a small PC shop in 1987 in Lafayette, LA, it has grown into an advanced IT firm that integrates complex systems and applications over secure networks. Most importantly, Global Data Systems, Inc. is able to offer unique solution sets that allow our customers to communicate in real time over many different mediums.
In the early 1990s, GDS realized a paradigm shift in the industry. GDS shifted its business strategy into a service driven model, providing networking and professional services to customers who ran mission critical applications over their networks. As demand for those services grew, GDS had completely evolved its core business from a PC shop into an Internetworking organization that delivered core-to-edge products and services. By the late 1990's, GDS began providing managed services to clients and in 1999, GDS implemented the first PBX to voice over IP migration in the world.
By the early 2000's, the success of this project established GDS as a leader in IP telephony and enabled GDS to focus on total IP solutions that included integrated security, broadband wireless and core infrastructure. Two years later, GDS had adapted its solutions and services offerings to reflect the changes not just with emerging technologies, but with the changes in the economy itself. GDS' Professional Services integrated best-practices into its methodology, but the vision of delivering client satisfaction with world-class IT solutions remains unchanged.
Today, Global Data Systems continues to adapt its solutions and services offerings to reflect changes in technology, the global economy, and most importantly our customers needs. The business environments we work in are entering an era of radical change, GDS has prepared for this change by continuing our tradition of evolving our solutions and services to meet the needs of our clients. In 2008, GDS completed the construction of its teleport at our headquarters in the LITE Center in Lafayette, LA. From the GDS teleport, we can communicate from Alaska to the western coast of Africa. The teleport allows GDS to deliver remote office applications and solutions to hard to reach locations, as well as provide business continuity platforms for GDS clients.
