Founded in 1987, Global Data Systems keeps evolving to meet the needs of the technology industry and the needs of its Clients. Though the company started as a small PC shop, it has evolved into an advanced IT firm that integrates complex systems and applications over a secure network.
By the early 1990’s, GDS began providing networking and professional services. As demand for those services grew, GDS had completely shifted its core business from a PC shop into an Internetworking organization that delivered core-to-edge products and services.
In 1997, GDS began providing managed services to a few Clients and has now grown into its current incarnation as a 24x7, end-to-end solution and service provider. Not only does the GDS NOC actively provide monitoring, trend analysis, and problem resolution services to a wide array of Clients, but it also acts as the informational hub for GDS' entire Client base. GDS exercises best practices rules of operation and can impart these upon Clients intending to build out their own NOC sites.
In 1999, Global Data Systems implemented the first PBX to voice over IP migration in the world (that was outside of Cisco). The success of this project established GDS as a leader in IP telephony and enabled GDS to focus on total IP solutions that now includes integrated security, broadband wireless, and core infrastructure.
By 2001, GDS had adapted its solutions and services offerings to reflect the changes not just with emerging technologies, but with the changes in the economy itself. GDS Professional Services integrated best-practices into its methodology but the vision of delivering Client satisfaction with world-class IT solutions remained unchanged. This resulted in rapid company growth, profitability and stability though the IT industry was suffering in general.
GDS is currently ranked in the 2003 Inc. 500 list of Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S. and in the VARBusiness 500 list of the top solutions providers in North America. The company is also a Top 50 Privately Held Businesses in Central Louisiana.
